I love the winter olympics! Much more than the summer ones I must admit. The danger involved just adds an extra element of excitement doesn't it? And who doesn't want to watch a bunch of loonies hurling themselves down a mountain on a tea tray?
My favourite part is the figure skating. It's a joy to watch the gracefulness, strength and chutzpah that these dancers have.
Some of them, unfortunately, make mistakes during their routines and you start to wonder why. They have practiced so many times, they know every move and when to make it to the millisecond.
I think it's all down to the occasion and the pressure they are facing. You can see it in their faces. They concentrate too hard, their mind perhaps is not entirely in the moment and that's when it can fall apart.
I was reminded of the famous British gold winning dance of Torvill and Dean in 1984. I watched it again and wow this is a pure example of two people completely in the present, almost transcending time. Watch the clip below if you have a moment.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be in the moment like this in more of our lives? It's given me a reminder not to worry about future or past as much as I do. When i do that, things just seem to flow so much more easily.
